Writing & Editing Errors
Avoid these common errors when you're writing!
Back Up vs Backup
As two words these are phrasal verbs, meaning that as two words they function as one verb. As a single word, these are nouns. Also "log in" and "login", plus many more.
Most people get the first two right, but the latter may pique your interest.
Hyphenate Adjectives If Required
Use compound adjectives when necessary to make things clearer. For instance, use "a heavy-metal detector" rather than "a heavy metal detector". The latter implies the metal detector is quite heavy.
Graduate FROM School
You don't graduate school, you graduate FROM school. You sound illiterate when you say you graduated school, and that's a problem for the school.
